Philanthropy
Breast Cancer Awareness
The main philanthropic focus for alpha Kappa Delta Phi nationally is Breast Cancer Awareness; the fight against breast cancer involves our hard work to raise awareness against the disease by participating in U.S. sponsored events. We also hope to host our own campus-wide events throughout the month of October in observation of Breast Cancer month to create a stimulating and interactive learning environment for students, faculty members, and families of all ages.
Domestic Violence Awareness
We also hope to promote Domestic Violence Awareness in the month of October by collaborating with one love foundation to become educated facilitators for our peers and community. We plan to create poster board informations for our students to be exposed to statistics of domestic violence. Our colony chapter of alpha Kappa Delta Phi plans to be successful in garnering both awareness and effort in our combat against domestic violence. Similar to workshops, we hope to create safe spaces for our peers to join; this will be a haven for sisters, students, and faculty members to share their stories or stories of others whom they’ve heard. Our goal is to build community and solidarity to dispel stereotypes against domestic violence victims to stop victim-blaming.
